I have a Zoology degree from the University of Washington and so it’s natural that I love watching documentary-style wildlife movies. I believe in animal rights and feel there needs to be better laws protecting animals from abuse, torture, neglect, and exploitation.
It saddens me to know that animals, such as rhinos and elephants are being killed for human greed to make high-priced jewelry from ivory. I mean how can you kill such magnificent animals? And for what? To make an ivory necklace for some self-absorbed woman to hang on her neck?! It makes me sad, but also angry.
David Sheldrick Foundation
Fortunately, there are some amazing human beings who save and rehabilitate these animals. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust supports Kenya’s Elephant Orphanage. This orphanage rescues elephants, especially the orphaned babies who have lost their mothers to poachers, drought, and other causes. The amazing workers at the Elephant Orphanage in Kenya and Savo National Park are dedicated to saving these elephants’ lives and rehabilitating them.
Adopt an Orphaned Elephant or Rhino
What’s even more special is that you can adopt your own Baby Elephant and/or Rhino!
