One of my first trips as a solo traveler was to Thailand. It’s great for solo female travelers because most of the Thai people speak English to some extent and it’s welcoming to foreigners.
Being that its population practices Buddhism, Hinduism, and animism, the blending of religious philosophies and practices, makes it a diverse, exotic, and interesting destination. From bustling Bangkok to dense jungles, and white sand beaches, Thailand has something for everyone!

Bangkok
The Grand Palace
Bangkok is a bustling metropolis enriched with historical artifacts, culture, religious shrines and temples. One could spend weeks in Bangkok and only scratch the surface. While there, be sure to visit the Grand Palace, the famous Reclining Buddha, and the Emerald Buddha. You can take a longboard boat along the Chao Phraya River and visit the numerous temples and small, hidden Buddhist shrines; or experience riding in a Tuk Tuk, a classic Thai experience, or maybe visit one of Bangkok’s rooftop bars for refreshing drinks. Whatever you choose, Bangkok is sure to keep you captivated.
Also, be sure to try out different Thai cuisine and street foods such as curries, Thai coffee and tea, mango sticky rice, as well as other Thai delicacies at the numerous street vendors. Thai street food is inexpensive and freshly made, and it seems the less expensive the food, the better it tastes. Thais like their food spicy and very hot, so you may want to ask the cook to make the dish more mild to accommodate your palate. Learn more about Thai street food here.

Ko Samui
Ko Samui is so far my favorite island. The weather is perfect, white sand beaches and a more relaxing atmosphere.
I stayed at the Fairhous Villa and Spa, a luxurious 5-star resort located in tropical settings. Each villa and suite is decorated in Thai-style and it offers amazing sunset views of the Gulf of Siam. The resort is impressive with its beach side amazing pool area, swim-up bars, and an impressive breakfast which is included in the price. Highly recommend.
The resort is close to Samui International Airport and Chaweng Beach, just 15 minutes away.
