Quiche Lorraine
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 6 slices of bacon, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust in a tart pan and prick the bottom with a fork. Pre-bake for 10 minutes.
- In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside, then sauté onions in the bacon fat until soft.
- Sprinkle bacon, onions, and cheese evenly over the pie crust. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour over the bacon mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown on top.
- Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature, often with a side salad.
