How to Get Eyebrows that Don’t Make You Look Like Twiggy

Remember Twiggy?

The 60s fashion icon with the super thinned, over-tweezed eyebrows. She was a 60s supermodel at the time and had a signature look of being super “twiggy” thin with over-tweezed eyebrows, and Martian-like looks.

That may have been cool back then, but now the ‘super-tweezed’ look is out, and the natural, groomed robust eyebrow is in. Having a natural look enhances a woman’s eye and facial features.

Fortunately, we now have many more cool options for keeping our brows groomed and shapely

Eyebrow Beauty: Tips for Gorgeous Brows

1. Start Simple: Tinted Brow Gel or Mascara

If you’re new to the brow game, keep it simple. Opt for easy-to-use products like a Tinted Brow Gel or mascara. These glide on effortlessly, taming and tinting your brows with just a few strokes. No fuss, no stress! I like Bobby Brown’s Eyebrow gel line.

2. Where to Begin? Not at the Front!

It might seem counterintuitive, but avoid starting at the front of your brow. Why? Because it’s easy to go overboard there. Instead, begin at the center or tail of your brow and move outward. This way, you’ll avoid accidentally going too heavy on the front end. Make sure to blend the whole brow together.

3. Shade, Don’t Draw

Whether you’re using a pencil, powder, or gel, think tiny, hair-like strokes. Makeup artists can create perfect brows in one swoop, but for us mere mortals, it’s all about those delicate, angled strokes. Natural-looking wins the race!

4. Fill in Sparse Spots

Sparse brows? Fear not! Modern options abound. Try a Brow Extensions Fiber Pomade Crayon—it’s like magic. A couple of strokes, and voilà! Instantly thicker, fuller brows thanks to those hair-like fibers that cling to your natural brow hairs.

5. Soften Harsh Lines

While editorial sculpted brows are fabulous, real-life calls for a softer touch. Buff out any noticeable pencil lines within the brow, and gently trace over the outline with a Spoolie brush. Soft and natural—just how we like it! I personally like the NARS Spoolie brush to tame my brows. It’s lightweight and gives the perfect contour to my brows.

6. Don’t Forget the Tail

The tail of your brow often gets overlooked. But balanced brows matter! Pay attention to the tail—it’s the secret to symmetry. No more lopsided looks, my friend.

7. Start Light, Adjust as You Go

Think of brows as a series of checks and balances. Midway through your brow adventure, step back, look in the mirror, and assess. Missed a spot? Too heavy on one side? Adjust as needed. Brows are a work of art, and you’re the artist!

8. Enhance Your Shape, Don’t Re-create

Embrace your natural brow shape. It’s unique to you! Rather than trying to mimic someone else’s brows, enhance what you’ve got. Remember, symmetry is key, and your brows should harmonize with your face.
