I’ve had long hair since I was a kid, but recently I had a severe health issue and due to my body being pounded with medications, most of my hair fell out. For the last few years, I’ve been trying to grow it back, constantly obsessing over it in the mirror, praying it would grow faster.
Now, I’m paying more attention to how I take care of my hair. As a result, I’ve become much more conscious about the ingredients in hair products, and have learned about the importance of avoiding products with sulfates. Now, more than ever, I’m trying to take care of my hair the best I can.
Here are Some Tips So You CanEnjoy Luxurious Locks!
Use gentle and nourishing hair products that suit your hair needs. Avoid harsh chemicals, sulfates, and silicones that can strip your hair of its natural oils and moisture. Look for products that contain natural ingredients, such as oils, proteins, and vitamins. I love Purelology products which are sulfate-free, and certified “Cruelty-Free” meaning the company doesn’t test on animals. They also have a soft, silk feel and wonderful scent.
Wash Your Hair Less Often
To preserve its natural oils and prevent dryness. Try not to wash your hair more than 2-3 times a week. In between washes, you can use dry shampoo or a conditioner to refresh your hair between washes. When you do wash your hair, use lukewarm or cool water and massage your scalp gently. Wash only the scalp and avoid the ends, so the ends can retain their natural oil. Try to allow you hair to airdry if possible Avoid heat as much as possible
Use a Weekly Treatment
Use a deep conditioner, hair mask, or oil to hydrate and repair your hair. Apply the treatment to your hair after shampooing and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing. You can also use a leave-in conditioner or serum to protect your hair throughout the day.
I personally love Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum

Detangle your hair carefully with a wide-tooth comb or a boar bristle brush. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots, gently removing any knots or tangles. I’ve noticed a big difference once I switched to this brush and noticed hardly any breakage if any. Next, avoid brushing your hair when it is wet, as it is more fragile and prone to breakage.

Blow Dry Your Hair Less
When you do blow-dry it, flip your head over so you are blow-drying the roots. Blow dry just the roots and allow your ends to dry naturally. It also help to protect the outer layer of hair which is affected by sun and harsh weather throughout the day.
Get Regular Trims
It’s important to prevent split ends and damage. Depending on your hair type and condition, you may need to trim your hair every 6 to 12 weeks. Keeping your hair trimmed gives a fresh, clean look to your style.
Eat a Balanced Diet and Consider Supplementation.

Always check with your doctor first to make sure your supplements don’t interact with any medications. My hairstylist recommended taking Biotin. Once I started taking it, I noticed a big improvement in the hair growth, quality, and texture of my hair.
Change Your Hair Accessories
Avoid using ones that can pull, snag, or damage your hair. Opt for soft scrunchies, silk scarves, or clips instead of rubber bands, metal pins, or tight elastics. Also, avoid wearing your hair in the same style every day, as this can cause stress and breakage in certain areas of your hair.
I love these soft silk scrunchies!

Style smarter and limit your use of heat tools, such as blow dryers, curling irons, or flat irons. If you do use heat, always apply a heat protectant spray or cream to your hair before styling. You can also try heatless styles, such as braids, buns, or twists, to create waves or curls without damaging your hair. Lately, I’ve enjoyed wearing my hair in a loose braid because it keeps my hair out of my face, but looks soft and feminine.
Here are Different Types of Braiding Techniques

Protect your hair from the sun and other environmental factors, such as wind, chlorine, or salt water. Wear a hat, scarf, or sunscreen spray to shield your hair from UV rays and prevent fading or drying. You can also rinse your hair with fresh water before and after swimming to remove any chlorine or salt residue.

These are some of the basic long hair care techniques that can help you maintain your hair’s health and beauty. You can also experiment with different products, styles, and treatments to find what works best for your hair.
