All over the internet, you’ll see bloggers saying that everyone can travel, even if you’re broke. But the reality is that many of us simply can’t travel due to lack of money, health issues, or jobs with geographic limitations and additional responsibilities. It’s a myth that’s perpetuated by the internet world and especially by millennial bloggers. This group was brought up in an era where the internet and blogging were mainstream and so they have the means and funds to travel. But billions of people around the world cannot travel for the aforementioned reasons. I feel it’s insensitive and quite disturbing that those who do have the means to travel to insist that “anyone” can travel, especially if they’ve seen abject poverty and political instability through their travels.
The flashy travel blogger websites with the perma-smiles, music, designer clothes, and luxury paid-for accommodations, are a false reality that appeals to those of a higher socioeconomic level, but doesn’t reflect the day-to-day lives of the culture’s people.
If you can travel, consider it a gift and a privilege. A privilege that could be taken away from you due to sudden illness, lack of financial resources, or a myriad of other things.
Be thankful for your travel blessings. Cherish every minute of your travels by delving into the culture, the people, the food, and the land. Bring something back with you to give to others – whether it’s a small gift, story, or phof the culture you visited, so others can experience it, too. Don’t travel so you can show off on an Instagram page. Too many people love the popular tourist areas, but go off the beaten path to experience the real culture and land. Travel with purpose and an open mind. Enjoy the spontaneity of the moment, Enjoy your life. And remember that billions of people don’t have the opportunity to travel like you do, so share the experience as much as possible.
I created this website to share my experiences and stories with others, and to create a timeline of my life.
I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for coming.
