Zion National Park: Heaven on Earth

Zion National Park

“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.” —

Henry David Thoreau

Zion National Park in Utah is  on eof my favorite hiking destinations. With it’s gorgeous mountains, with their auburn, browns, and red tone contrasting against the crystal clear blue skies is a magnificent site to behold. You can spend days hiking the trails, watching wildlife, and observing the unique rock formations with their swirling colors. I love spending weekends there to decompress from the stress of everyday life. Nothing beats warm sunshine, the fresh, invigorating air, and beautiful mountains.

Where to Stay:

There are numerous hotels in and around the park. I usually stay at the _____due to the proximity and walking distance from the park. Get a fresh cup of coffee and a pastry before heading out on your adventure. After your long day of hiking, take a dip in their pool during the summer, and relax in the hot tub during the Fall.

Best time to go

I love to hike in the Winter when there are fewer crowds. During the winter, the snow covers the mountain tops in contrast to the colorful rugged formations. It’s a peaceful and serene experience.

During the summer, the crowd hit and the trails can be quite busy. Although there are crowds, it’s still an enjoyable experience,s so don’t let stop you from going.

The Virgin River

The main river that flows through the park is the Virgin River. Over thousands of years, it’s carved out the deep canyons and the landscape of the mountains. If you decide to go canyoneering, just be sure to be aware of flash floods which can occur suddenly and are extremely dangerous. Each year, hikers lose their lives due to flash floods. So obey the rangers and park rules if there are warnings.
